Why mask when polishing?

Anyone involved in paint correction via polishing will quickly realize the need to protect plastic, trim, and gaps. For many enthusiasts, the search for masking tape certainly begins at the local hardware store. However, masking tapes for painting work are unsuitable for polishing, as these tapes are often rough and not designed to withstand the stress of being polished over. 

KAMOI masking tape Kabuki-S and Big Boss from Japan: The best choice for protection during polishing

When selecting our product range, we rely on the expertise of the best in the industry, with whom we have good, friendly relations. This showed us that current masking tapes are okay, but still do not reach the level of the "best detailing masking tape." The combination of adhesive strength, the ability to be polished over - without lifting at the edges and thus releasing adhesive onto the polishing pad - and tear resistance is still unmatched. As a benchmark, we were shown the KAMOI Kabuki-S, which comes from Japan.

Since we already had three manufacturers of masking tape in our range, and we generally make product decisions through our own tests and evaluation processes, we dealt extensively with KAMOI masking tape. With 18 meters per roll and due to the very small core, KAMOI masking tape is significantly smaller than all other masking tapes. This quickly proves to be a major advantage when working in tight spaces or when taping small areas like emblems and logos. The strength combined with the flexibility is fantastic, so the Kabuki-S tape feels rubbery and is very easy to guide around curves and corners. When we tested several tapes with flour and activated charcoal - that's right - we could not find any noticeable adhesive residue after removal, neither on the Kabuki-S nor on the slightly cheaper Big Boss. Overall, we can confirm that KAMOI masking tape is the gold standard!

As an official partner of KAMOI, we import the tapes directly from Japan and sell them in the original sealed packaging units of up to 20 rolls. With the DETAILER kit, we offer all available sizes in a sample set. Based on the price per meter, we are on par with other masking tapes. With the slightly cheaper KAMOI Big Boss masking tape, another color is available: pink. Big Boss offers slightly stronger adhesive properties and slightly less flexibility. KAMOI Kabuki-S and Big Boss are approved for paint drying at 100 degrees Celsius for up to 30 minutes and are therefore the most popular tape among professional painters in Japan.
