What does pH in shampoos mean

Shampoos with an acidic pH value of 1 to 6 are excellent for removing mineral deposits and if, for example, your coating needs a refresh.

They are effective against:
Limescale stains
Salts

Most shampoos are neutral with a pH value of 7.

Minor dirt.
Their special property is that they are safe to use on paint sealants, waxes and coatings and do not attack them.

However, be aware that they do not have a great cleaning power, as they are pH neutral. They can help you dissolve a little dirt, but are primarily a means to provide lubrication when you wash the car.

Shampoos with a pH value above 7 are used to remove organic impurities.
They specifically dissolve and clean residues of, for example:

insects
Tar
Resin

They are typically very effective as a pre-wash as they are good at removing road film etc.

Most foam for foam sprayers is also alkaline. When used as a shampoo or pre-cleaner, the foam dissolves dirt very well.

The longer the foam adheres, the better the dirt dissolves, the less rubbing with the wash mitt is required, and the fewer scratches occur during hand washing.

A pH-neutral snow foam does not have the cleaning chemical properties. It simply lacks some bite. So make sure to get one with a slightly higher pH for cleaning if you're someone who loves to apply thick foam to the car and let it sit before rinsing off.
